This two hour concert of tango music features performers with a variety of styles:
- Latin vocalist and guitarist Marcelina- Victoria's popular singing in Spanish teacher
- Tango/jazz accordionist Dr. D
- Visiting classical guitarist Cesar Rojas of Colombia SA
- Jonathan Goldman bandoneonist (performance and talk on the bandoneon)
- Original jazz tango compositions by Robert Mari
Cultural fare continues through the day; Latin food, local goods and Fairly Traded crafts.
5:30 pm free dance workshop by Deborah and Santiago, dance performers and instructors from Vancouver.
- This young couple dance Nuevo style to Astor Piazzolla, electronic tango and like most nuevo tango dancers a broad spectrum of music. Santiago is from Argentina where he met Deborah.
7:00 pm concert of tango music from Eastern Europe, and South America.
- Yiddish Tango Barcada takes the stage as performers of Klezmer, Saxophone and clarinet musician Tom Ackerman and guitarist Devon McCagerty, team up with Alex Olson, bass, and Dr. D, accordion — of Grupo de Barrio, and special guest Julian Vitek on violin.
- Caranavaliando is the duo Cesar and Ana who came to Canada from Colombia SA 2 years ago. They will be joined by the Latin drummer Samuel, who is from Mexico.

Martin Nemcovsky and Pablo Hopenhayn will give a WORKSHOP ON TANGO MUSIC for professional musicians and a PUBLIC TALK on tango history of the genre, evolution from the small ensembles to the well known orchestras. Martin also holds a MASTERCLASS ON GUITAR.

Martin Nemcovsky's CANTANGO ( Mike Spindloe sax, of Vancouver) play a CONCERT with guest violinist Pablo Hopenhayn. Martin comes from Rosario which is known in Argentina for being a music community. Well-known Latin bassist and cellist Freddy Veloso has come into their fold recently, www.myspace.com/cantango. Pablo Hopenhayn, is well steeped in tango tradition having played in the well known orchestras in Buenos Aires.

LINDA LEE THOMAS piano and JONATHAN GOLDMAN bandoneon will be the main acts for Tango Fest 2009. CBC produced a radio concert of Linda Lee and Jonathan with the True Jive Pluckers in 2008. An album of the concert was produced recently by CBC as well. Linda Lee said it is a hot selling album in Buenos Aires. www.lindaleethomas.com
